Tax Coordinator – Treasury & Finance

Job Description:

The Tax Coordinator is under the general supervision of the Treasurer and is responsible for all aspects of trust tax reporting and some Institute tax reporting. This is a part-time position now (20-30 hours) and then full-time during tax season.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and file trust tax returns, including 1041’s, 5227’s, and 1041-A’s. Explain and support the returns to investment administrators, trustors, and the IRS
  • Prepare or assist other departments in the preparation of other tax returns and reports, including 1099’s, 1065’s, 1098-T’s, 1098’s, and 1042’s
  • Prepare Forms 1040 for certain constituents. Handle all follow up matters relating to these returns with IRS
  • Research tax and accounting issues as necessary to prepare accurate returns and give tax advice
  • Study changes in tax laws as they affect MBI, trustors, and constituents
  • Ensuring that the maintenance and upkeep of all tax software systems is properly cared for
  • Facilitate work for all outside tax assistance
  • Coordinate the work of the tax preparers and review their work
  • Audit transaction posted by Investment Accounting
  • Perform related and special duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
  • CPA
  • Trust tax experienced
  • Accounting background
