Staff Auditor - Internal Audit

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Manager of Internal Audit, assist in the implementation of an objective, systematic and competent audit approach which adds value by evaluating controls and recommending improvements that will make processes and risk management more effective. This position is for 20-30 hours per week.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and employ audit techniques and supporting work papers consistent with the audit program
  • Conduct audit interviews and reviews with all levels of staff and management for the purpose of obtaining an understanding of operations and systems
  • Review all systems within the audit scope for internal controls and perform related tests to assess compliance with COBIT standards
  • Document systems and procedures within the scope of audit
  • Verify and report on adherence to regulations and Institute policies
  • Assist the Manager of Internal Audit in drafting reports on audit issues and recommendations focusing on internal control structure and financial stewardship
  • Test selected physical inventories; and perform equipment, security, and cash counts and valuations on a recurring basis
  • Perform periodic system walkthroughs of key Institute processes
  • Perform periodic audits of trusts, IRAs, pooled income fund and any other fiduciary accounts in compliance with IRS, regulation 9, and any other applicable requirements and relevant industry standards
  • Assist external auditors with audit tasks as assigned by Manager of Internal Audit
  • Assist the Manager of Internal Audit in developing Institute-wide risk assessment and audit plan
  • Assist the Manager of Internal Audit in the development of audit scopes and programs for the Institute
  • Perform other related and special duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
  • College degree in accounting
  • Working knowledge of, and extensive experience in accounting
  • Previous auditing experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Above average oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with light supervision
  • CPA, CIA a plus
