Registrar & Director – Academic Records

Job Description:

The Registrar & Director of Academic Records reports to the Vice President for Student Services. This position manages all academic activities related to student records, conferral of degrees, course registration, classroom schedules, and related areas – in order to assist the administration, faculty, staff, students in fulfilling the educational mission of the Moody Bible Institute.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage personnel in the fulfillment of departmental objectives
  • Oversee academic procedures relating to convocation, graduation, and assist with the awards/honors chapel
  • Serve as liaison with other institutional departments regarding services provided to, or by the Registrar/Director of Academic Records department
  • Provide innovative, efficient, and effective registration procedures and materials for all Undergraduate and Graduate programs
  • Partner with the Deans of Undergraduate and Graduate School  in developing and maintaining a faculty advising program in conjunction with a degree audit program
  • Monitor the academic progress of students and respond appropriately to “at risk” students
  • Establish and maintain a standard transfer credit policy related to accredited and non-accredited institutions, as well as college credit recognition from students with AP, CLEP and IB credentials
  • Provide enrollment statistics for various internal departments and external agencies
  • Provide faculty with lists of graduates for approval and with such related academic data as required
  • Serve as coordinator of Institute-approved study aboard programs
  • Oversee the development and production of catalogs for the Undergraduate and Graduate Schools on an annual basis
  • Fulfill fiscal responsibilities by preparing annual budgets for revenue and expense necessary to fulfill departmental objectives
  • Hold administrative faculty rank with the Graduate and Undergraduate Schools
  • Serve as a member of the Dean’s Council, Student Services Council, Academic Affairs Committee, and serve as chairman of the committee on Academic Standards in both Undergraduate and Graduate School divisions
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree
  • At least five years experience in college or university registrar’s office
  • History of effective management of staff
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience with policies, regulations, and academic standards
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Commitment to quality service to students, faculty, alumni and other constituents
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Substantial experience with technology-based student information systems required
