Moody Radio Chicago was recently awarded second place in the Best Newscast category by the Illinois Associated Press (AP) Broadcasters Association. The award is one of 11 given out during the association's annual Journalism Excellence Contest. Approximately 10 radio stations from Chicago and St. Louis were entered.
"We are so proud of Moody Radio Chicago's news team," said Roy Patterson, station manager for Moody Radio Chicago. "They work incredibly hard to report news each day that will bring awareness and compassionate insight and we are proud of their accomplishment. Their heart for Chicagoland comes through with every report."
Moody Radio Chicago also won the award in 2002, 2003 and 2006, and placed second in 1999, 2000 and 2011. The news team is led by Dave Mitchell, veteran Chicago news reporter and Moody Radio Chicago news director. He has been with Moody Radio for 14 years.
"We believe that we have a mandate from God to be the best we can be," said Mitchell, who also serves at the morning show news anchor. "This award demonstrates that we have used the resources we have been given to do just that. What a blessing to be recognized among so many great stations in Chicago and St. Louis."
