Moody Radio's stations across the country are finding creative ways to reach their communities, as well as those in need around the world.  Here are just a few of their stories.

WDLM (Quad Cities, Ill.)

In June, WDLM collected more than 100 gift cards to home improvement stores, restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations, distributed by local pastors to victims of flooding in their listening area. In August, the station’s listeners gave nearly 700 backpacks for local children, to be distributed through Quad Cities ministries, as well for orphans in other countries, distributed in partnership with Orphan Outreach.

WKES (Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla.)

From September 13 to 21, Moody Radio and World Hope Missions Ministry took a group of listeners on a medical and humanitarian missions trip to the Amazon River basin in Brazil. The team of doctors, dentists, pharmacists and children’s workers provided medical services for 232 patients and dental services for 39 patients, and led kids’ clubs for 183 children. The team also distributed school supplies collected by listeners to the children of the villages. Fifty-five people received Christ during the trip.

WMBI (Chicago, Ill.)

This summer, WMBI listeners collected backpacks and school supplies for children attending Chicago Public Schools. The goal of the project was to connect children with ministries in their neighborhoods—including Inner City Impact, Sunshine Gospel Ministries, Breakthrough Urban Ministries, Lydia Home Association, Lawndale Community Church and New Life Covenant Church. The children received 5,800 backpacks, helping these ministries strengthen or create relationships with schools and invite more children to participate in their programs.

WMBW (Chattanooga, Tenn.)

For the eighth year, listeners throughout the four-state region served by WMBW, WMKW, and WFCM participated in a Shoes for Orphan Souls drive in August. All told, they gave 20,123 pairs of new shoes, 38,044 pairs of new socks and 1,888 pairs of new shoelaces for orphans around the world.  The shoes and socks were transported to Dallas, Tex. as a gift of U.S. Xpress Enterprises, Inc., a major trucking firm based in Chattanooga and one of WMBW’s partners. WMBW also hosted a live town hall meeting in August with Howard Dayton, co-founder of Crown Financial Ministries, and Chuck Bentley, president and CEO of Crown.

WCRF (Cleveland, Ohio)

This summer, WCRF held its fifth Shoes for Orphan Souls drive, collecting more than 1100 pairs in a single day and over 12,000 pairs during the duration of the campaign.  The shoes are destined for orphan and needy children served by Buckner International in Latvia, as well as for children in Cleveland’s inner city.   The shoes will be distributed through the urban ministries WCRF partnered with during One Night on the Street last year.
