As Moody Bible Institute’s Presidential Search Committee moves into the final phase of the selection process for Moody’s ninth president, the Moody community is taking time to pray for God’s hand in this process of leading His man to this organization.
During the week of March 30 to April 3, students, staff, faculty, trustees and alumni are participating in a Prayer Closet Initiative, filling 30-minute timeslots from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. throughout the week. Staff and students are invited to pray in the president’s office, as this is a strategic location where the new president will spend his time.
Over the past nine months the selection process has been surrounded in prayer. Moody staff have prayed for the presidential transition during weekly department devotions and every Monday, staff and students received specific prayer requests for the Presidential Search. On Tuesdays during President’s Chapel, the students and staff spent focused time in prayer for the presidential search. Moody staff and students have prayed not only for the search process but for the trustees, senior leadership, search committee and most importantly for the future president himself.
“Prayer is powerful, and we trust God to guide the selection,” said Heidy Hartley, vice president of Corporate Communications and search committee member. “We know that God has already laid His hand on the man who will be our next president, so we are asking for God’s leading and direction in this process of identifying who this will be.”
