On Monday, December 14, 2009, Moody Radio launched its first version of the Moody Radio iPhone Application to creatively and dynamically bring the word of God to more people, more conveniently. In partnership with Fluent Factory, a Chicago-based mobile technology firm, Moody Radio has created a mobile application or “app” that will bring the complete Moody Radio experience to listeners via handheld devices.
“People are listening less to terrestrial radio and more to Internet radio, and more Internet listening is being done on mobile devices such as iPhones,” explained National Program Director Denny Nugent. “We are committed to using these new technological opportunities to reach out to current and prospective listeners wherever they are.”
The Moody Radio Web team has been working with Fluent Factory since mid-2009 to develop an app that provides listeners with a number of cutting-edge functions, including access to all of Moody Radio’s Internet and local radio streams; most of Moody Radio’s daily and weekly network programs, including recent episodes, and program schedules for Moody Radio’s network and local stations. The app also offers a number of unique feedback functions, such as the ability to e-mail MP3 links of episodes to fellow listeners, contact Moody Radio and access each show’s Web site and Facebook page.
“The launch of the Moody Radio app is another milestone in Moody’s growth story, which is a story that is not only impressive for the media industry, but is one fueled by a passion and creativity for reaching our listeners in new and interesting ways,” said Ed Cannon, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Moody Bible Institute, who spoke at the app’s Chicago launch party. “We believe there is a great opportunity to spread the message of the gospel across the world through this new technology.”
Listeners can download the free app to an iPhone or iPod Touch by linking to the iTunes Store from www.MoodyRadio.org/iphone.
