National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) awarded two Moody Bible Institute students for their excellent work in radio and television communications at its 2010 annual convention in Nashville, Tenn. Since 2002, more than 50 Moody students have been recognized for their work by NRB and five have won Awards for Excellence.
The work of Lawrence (Scott) Visk, senior communications major, was recognized as the best audio production of the year, winning him the 2010 Audio Award for Excellence. His public service announcement, Never Worry, encouraged listeners to trust in the Lord in spite of current economic challenges.
Micah Bournes, senior communications major, received first place in the Radio Newscast/News story category for a piece titled Eternally Black. This newscast explored how faith and culture collided in the minds and hearts of black conservative Christians during the last presidential election.
“The entire Moody community is proud of Scott and Micah, and of all seven students who submitted work this year,” said Paul Butler, Producer for Moody Radio’s Prime Time America and Short Format Radio Production Instructor. “I could not have been more pleased with our students’ work, how they represented Moody and how they stood as reflections of the Body of Christ. It is an incredible privilege to walk alongside these students and have a front row seat to how God is working in their lives.”
The NRB Media Awards program was designed to inspire students to create “compelling, relevant and challenging Christian programming.” Student work is judged by broadcast professionals for artistry, originality, production technique and Christian message/theme/values. Students from across the United States may enter to win awards in 14 categories, including TV Music Video, Radio Short Form Feature/Drama, and Web content and Design.
