On April 13, Dr. Bryan Litfin, professor of theology at Moody Bible Institute, hosted an on-campus book signing to give Moody students a preview of his forthcoming novel, The Sword. The book is published by Crossway Publishing and will be made available to the public on April 30. At the event, Communications Professor Dr. Rosalie De Rosset interviewed Litfin about his novel and he read a short excerpt. Copies were made available for student purchase.
“This book is an epic adventure with a theological twist. It is the story of a man and woman who get caught-up in an adventure they could never have expected,” explained Litfin. “In the process they find not only each other, but the one true God.”
The popular fiction novel is set 400 years in the future, in a post-nuclear world. Society has returned to the age of swords and horses after nuclear devastation, and Christianity is lost until the main characters discover a Bible in a ruined cathedral. Litfin describes it as an adventure of “encountering God for the first time, exploring what his Book is about, exploring who He is and discovering how man is supposed to relate to Him.”
Dr. De Rosset explained, “It is a rollicking adventure story with Christian themes that will appeal broadly to both male and female readership.”
The Sword is the first installment in Litfin’s three-part Chiveis Trilogy, with the second book due for release in April 2011. For more information, please visit the Chiveis website at http://www.chiveis.com.
