On April 16, the Moody Bible Institute Admissions Department launched a Student Ambassador program to engage current undergraduate students who desire to serve Moody by acting as hosts for prospective students and their parents. In addition to their participation in the Day One events, the Ambassadors will serve as admissions tour guides, accompany guests at meals and host students in their dorm rooms. They will also be involved in social networking opportunities to connect with prospective students.

“The goal of the Admissions Office is to attract and enroll highly qualified students who sense the call of God to vocational ministry,” said Charles Dresser, dean of admissions at Moody. “Our current students have always been the best advertisement for the type of student that Moody is looking for, and we are excited to launch this new program. The Student Ambassadors will provide prospective students and their families invaluable insight into what it means to be a Moody student.”

In its first semester, the program has 21 undergraduate Student Ambassadors on the Chicago campus and is hoping to increase the program to 30 students. Students must have completed at least one semester at Moody and are required to maintain at least a 2.5 GPA. Each Ambassador must commit to a one year term and have a heart to share Moody with others.

“As a Student Ambassador, I am most looking forward to meeting prospective students and developing relationships with them that hopefully continue once they enroll,” said Jeremy Barahon, sophomore theology major. Mary Chambers, a fellow Ambassador and sophomore sports ministry major, echoed his sentiment and said, “I had questions and concerns when I first visited Moody, and many people put me at ease and positively impacted my journey to Moody. I want to provide others with those same experiences and create relationships similar to those that have blessed me.”

Given that more than 2,600 people will visit the Admissions Office this year, which is a 10 percent increase from 2009; this new program has never been needed more than it is now. Prospective students looking to visit Moody should call 800-967-4MBI or inquire by e-mail at admissions@moody.edu.
