Moody Receives Title IV Approval

In June, Moody Bible Institute received approval from the United States Department of Education to participate in Title IV federal student aid programs, specifically Pell Grants. By participating in grant programs only, Moody has remained consistent with its mission to encourage students to graduate and begin ministry debt free. Through this program, all qualifying undergraduate students have the opportunity to receive up to $5,550 in grants.

These grants have the potential to significantly offset the cost of tuition for students enrolled in Moody’s Spokane campus and Distance Learning programs. In addition to donated funds, the grant money that is awarded to Chicago campus students will be applied to their tuition-paid scholarships, not against their room and board.

The cost of tuition for an undergraduate student on the Chicago campus is substantially covered by generous donations from supporters, allowing Moody to offer a tuition-paid education. As these funds have become limited, this program has become stressed.

“Moody remains firmly committed to sustaining our tuition-paid program without compromising the integrity of our Bible-based education,” said Dr. Paul Nyquist, Moody’s president. “As the cost of education continues to rise and evidence mounts that the U.S. economy most likely will not return to the levels of prosperity we once enjoyed, we believe God has provided a way to honor this central distinctive through participation in Title IV.”

Participating in this program will not jeopardize Moody’s commitment to a biblical education nor will it subject the curriculum to outside regulations.

“We are dedicated to faithfully equipping tomorrow’s ministry leaders at as low a cost possible to them and their families,” said Dr. Nyquist. “We sincerely appreciate our students’ willingness to come alongside of us in this new season by engaging in this process.”
