Chicago, IL (June 14, 2007) — On Saturday, June 16, WMBI will air the first show of "Nuevo Pulso con Milenka Peña" from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm CST. Hosted by Peña, this show will focus on issues currently facing the Latino culture such as relationships, marriage, finances, raising kids, teen drinking, and other social issues such as immigration. The program will also offer music, humor, contests and interviews, providing the Hispanic audience with a family-friendly alternative.
“I’ve always had a special place in my heart for Moody,” said Peña. “It is an honor to be a part of such a significant ministry and I hope the Latino community receives what they are looking for through this program.”
Peña’s impressive background and experience makes her a great fit for WMBI. Most recently, she was a part of the News Department at WSNS Chicago Telemundo (NBC), serving as an anchor and reporter. While there, she was nominated for an Emmy Award for “Outstanding Achievement for Individual Excellence on Camera – News Anchors”. She also received a Silver Dome Award, from the Illinois Broadcasters Association.
Prior to coming to Chicago, Peña helped launch the first Bolivian Christian Network after a well-known career in the media which began in her childhood years. She also has an extensive background in radio, serving as reporter, producer, anchor and program director throughout her career.
Peña is an active member of her church, Crossroads Community Church of Naperville, Ill. There she has constantly been involved in various ministries and activities, including the Music and Arts Ministry, Women's Ministry and Adult Ministries. In addition, she has served as liaison to support Hispanic missions and organizations. She is also a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, and she is involved in helping other ministries nationwide, like Foundation Counseling and Training, Mercy Ministries, and The Way of the Master.
