Moody Radio Partners with Compassion International for Two Days of Compassion

Chicago, IL | November 16, 2007

Chicago, IL (November 16, 2007) — Moody Radio stations nationwide partnered with Compassion International, a Christian child advocacy ministry, to recruit sponsors for poverty-stricken children throughout the world. The two-day campaigns, held November 7 and 8, and 13 and 14, secured over 2,500 sponsors.

On a recent trip to visit a Compassion ministry site in the Dominican Republic, WMBI Station Manager Bruce Everhart said, “It’s hard to see this kind of poverty, and go back home to the United States and not feel guilty.  But as our guide said, ‘Don’t feel guilty about being an American.  God put you in America for a purpose.’  It’s up to all of us to use our God-given placement and gifts to advance His cause.”

That is exactly why 20 Moody Radio stations spent two days promoting the program and requesting sponsors.  Listeners had the opportunity to hear from a variety of Compassion-sponsored children who described the positive impact this ministry has had on them and their future.

In addition to the sponsorship drive, another Christian organization generously offered to give $50 for every sponsor that signed up toward the “Wess Stafford Scholarship Fund,” named for the Moody alumnus who is the current President of Compassion International. The money raised thus far will enable up two Compassion students the opportunity to attend the Moody Graduate School in Chicago.
